Assoc Prof Marko Klisurski MD, PhD

He graduated from Sofia Medical University in 1989. For over 20 years, he has been a neurologist at the Clinic in Neurology at Tsaritsa Yoanna – ISUL Multi-Profile Hospital for Active Treatment. Obtained speciality in neurology in 1994. He got a scientific degree after defending a thesis in the field of cerebral strokes in 2004. During the period 2001 – 2004, he passed speciality trainings at the Christian Doppler Clinic in Salzburg and the Neurology Clinic in Lübeck, Germany. He was conferred the scientific title of Associate Professor at the Department of Neurology at MU – Sofia in 2012. Head of the Ward in Neurology at Acibadem City Clinic from 2021 to 2020. Visiting physician consultant at the Neurology Clinic of the hospital in Poole, UK. Assoc. Prof. Klisurski has published over 90 scientific articles and one monograph. Member of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN), the European Society of Neurosonology and Cerebral Hemodynamics (ESNSCH) and the World Stroke Organization and the European Stroke Organization (WSO, ESO).

Special interests in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of stroke, multiple sclerosis, dementias, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, migraine. Certified specialist with professional qualification in Duplex and Doppler sonography of cerebral vessels, otoneurological and neuropsychological examination.
